Art Director

Job Description

Having released COCOON last year, we are now in the very early stages of developing a new 3D title, which we are very excited about.

We are looking for a passionate and creative individual to join our team in Copenhagen as a full-time Art Director, starting in August-September. In this role, you will have the opportunity to define the art style of our new game in collaboration with our game director Jeppe Carlsen.

As the Art Director, you will be leading a small team of artists, providing feedback, support, and mentoring. Your role will be crucial in motivating and inspiring the team, while fostering a collaborative and dynamic work environment. You will also lead by example by designing, modeling, and integrating architecture and devices, as well as collaborating closely with animators for implementing your character designs into the game.

As your work will be integral to the overall production, you will need to consider how your designs work in service of gameplay and in conjunction with the other elements of the game. You will play a pivotal role in shaping the overall creative vision. This is a unique opportunity to leave your mark and help us make a very cool game. We believe that talking in person is very important for communicating ideas, and it is a requirement that you can work on premises at our office in Copenhagen for a significant amount of days per month.

These will be your main responsibilities

  • Lead art direction on our new and exciting game
  • Define and drive the style and aesthetics of the game forward
  • Provide constructive feedback and support related to art and aesthetics
  • Motivate, inspire, and lead the art team
  • Deep dive into building and designing architecture, devices, and characters yourself
  • Consider your work in relation to gameplay, audio, and other parts of the production

You have

  • Solid artistic experience in 3D modeling
  • A strong sense of aesthetics
  • Experience in directing and leading a small art team
  • Proven experience working with video games
  • The ability to work independently and efficiently through all steps from sketch to finished in-game asset
  • Enthusiasm for creating unique and captivating art
  • Excellent communication and listening skills, in written and spoken English
  • Experience in communicating your vision to other artists with different backgrounds
  • The ability to communicate and collaborate on technical needs of the art production

It is also a plus if you have

  • Strong experience with the Unity engine
  • A keen eye for what works in a video game context
  • The ability to draw inspiration from a broad field of disciplines, not only video games
  • The ability to support your colleagues when they need it
  • An interest in playing video games
  • An interest in procedural, modular and/or scalable approaches to art production pipelines, e.g. Substance Designer

How to Apply

If you feel the above fits your profile please apply by sending us an email at info@geometricinteractive.com

Include your resumé and a link or reference to your portfolio showcasing the best examples of your work.

We will start reviewing incoming applications from 1st of August and do interviews in August also. Ideal startup would be August-September.
